Foto Arsenal Wien (FAW) is the new center for photography and lens-based media in Austria. Kunsthalle Wien (KHW) is the City of Vienna’s primary institution for contemporary art.

FAW and KHW are collaborating to develop a new concept for the City of Vienna’s Festival of Media Arts. Originally conceived as an annual event in 2020, it has explored the intersection between contemporary art, lens-based media, digital culture and technology.

Phileas—The Austrian Office for Contemporary Art invites museums, biennials and art institutions around the world to apply for funding support for projects in 2025.

Our mission is to support artists, curators, galleries and institutions in Austria and strengthen their presence on the international landscape of contemporary art, enabling the production and exhibition of new artworks and their donation to public collections.

Since 2014 we have supported over 100 exhibition and publication projects worldwide. This is done through an application-based process. The application deadline for funding collaborations in 2025 is Monday 16 September 2024.

I'm excited to share that we've just launched the 2024 open call for The Six Foot Platform, a performance/art series presenting six Brooklyn-based artists on Washington Street, Dumbo's most photographed block over six Saturdays -- in partnership with the Brooklyn Arts Council. (*Now happening in September and October, when it's less hot out!)
