Dear friends
I want to invite you to participate in the project “Pockets of Memory” a collective artwork made out of pockets crafted by many women from different countries and traditions. The final result will be a dress that will be shown on August 2nd at The “Qoricancha Temple” in Cuzco, Peru as part of my next art show Dresses Memory of the Earth.

for those of you who wanted to read the poems etc, that I perfomed last month at W13, here they are in reverse order of the performance:
The wikipedia on Stages of Courtly Love
• Attraction to the lady, usually via eyes/glance
• Worship of the lady from afar
• Declaration of passionate devotion
• Virtuous rejection by the lady
• Renewed wooing with oaths of virtue and eternal fealty
• Moans of approaching death from unsatisfied desire (and other physical manifestations of lovesickness)
• Heroic deeds of valor which win the lady's heart
• Consummation of the secret love
• Endless adventures and subterfuges avoiding detection

I am knee-deep in disallusionment (once again) with the American political system. I watch the candidates for The Presidency and I am dismayed by the animosity between each other, such venom.
What lies they promise!
And what lies we have already been told; before, now, again and again!
Campaigning, a dog eat dog soapbox opera, is not for the feint of heart (especially during times of a trumped-up war).
We suffer the embarrassment of the world.

I showed a Buddhist friend over for breakast recently some work by a California buddhist artist - Michele Benzamin-Miki (coming from a mixed Japanese, N. African and Euro-American background). In an interview she stated "I feel that art is about revolution. Tolstoy once said that art inspires non-violence. With art you can get away with more to inspire non-violence. You can really push the envelope with the images you put out. My art is like getting to express in a transcendent language which circumvents belief systems. Art can bring people to a deeper place of spirituality, of activism, of anything." (www.artmbm.net)
i was once walking thru the leidse plein in amsterdam and stumbled upon a butoh dancer with a beat box....intrigued i watched her do a 90 min performance...both sides of the cassette...i was so impressed that i wrote this poem for her. that was more than 10 years ago and the poem still feels quite fresh to me...i share it here with you...one of my favourites...
lay back and groove on a rainy day...well it has been raining in holland continuously for a couple of seasons now so i retreated to my underground dharma stronghold to weather the storms.....well...i have....
I am so excited to be part of hosting the first gathering of AMPsterdammers to chat, get to know one another and, hopefully, begin what will by a cornucopia of collaborations!
I was so lucky to be a part of the first AMP performances done here last year, and I was absolutely thrilled by the wide range of artists, genres and nations that were represented. Not only did I have a fantastic time, I met some really wonderful friends - many of whom I'm working with now - and look forward to more of it in the future!
So often, as artists, we live in a cocoon of our own making - suffering silently (well sometimes at least) to ensure that we are able to communicate our message clearly. Well you know, sometimes its also just nice to have a chat over a beer.
