This is an open call to anyone interested in participating in the Sixth Annual Celebrate Puppetry Festival on Saturday June 6th from 4:00 to 10:00 PM at the McGroarty Arts Center in Tujunga.
We are looking for vendors, performers, and workshop artists. Non-profit Arts Organizations are also welcome to participate. We have modest artist fees available. Puppet makers or vendors of general varieties are also welcome. Our booth fees are very reasonable, and they can be waived if you are able to offer workshops on and off during the day.

Changing Art Sculpture Program Request for Proposals
The City of Ojai is looking for artists to submit proposals for the Changing
Sculpture site at the Ojai Arcade Plaza. Previous artists who have been
featured include Bret Price, Bill McEwen, Bob Privett, Christopher Lee,
Michael Pedziwiatr, and Ahde Lahti/Douglas Bungert. This program has brought
valuable exposure for the artists and is a great opportunity for the public
to view a variety of sculpture. The City invites all local and regional
artists to submit their work to be considered for this annual program, which
runs from June 2009 to May 2010.
In general, the base support for a three-dimensional work will accommodate a
piece weighing no more than 700 pounds with a maximum height of 10-12 feet
125 Paid Summer Internships in the Arts Available through the Los Angeles County Arts Internship Program
Los Angeles County, through its Arts Commission, has given grants totaling $500,000 to 95 performing, literary, media and municipal arts organizations throughout Los Angeles County to support paid internships for college undergraduates in summer 2009.

An International Documentary Film Festival, known as DOCSDF and scheduled for October 15 to 24 in Mexico City, is inviting filmmakers, producers and directors to submit their best works by May 15.
This year's festival has nine categories: best international documentary; best Iberoamerican documentary; best Mexican documentary; best TV documentary; best international short documentary; best Mexican short documentary; best photography; best Mexican documentary on education; and best documentary on the environment.

From October 19 to November 27, 2009, El Pueblo Historical Monument
will present Sacred Memories: Cross-Cultural Celebrations of Day of the
Dead. Sacred Memories follows El Pueblo $B!G (Bs acclaimed 2007 exhibition
which explored celebrations that venerate the departed including Dia de
los Muertos, first observed by the indigenous people of Latin America,
China $B!G (Bs Qingming, and other rituals practiced in United States,
Europe, Africa and the Caribbean. Artists are asked to submit for
consideration two and three-dimensional work (including ofrendas/altars)
that examines rituals honoring the deceased and/or pays tribute to
departed ancestors.
