About the Malmö Art Museum
The Malmö Art Museum was founded in 1841 as part of Malmö Museum and is situated next to the beautiful castle in Malmö that was built in the 16th century. The Art Museum administers an accumulation of work of approximately 40,000 pieces of art. Making it one of the largest collections in Sweden of Nordic arts and crafts from the 16th century until today.
The collection also includes international art, such as the unique Russian paintings from the Baltic Exhibition in Malmö in 1914. Over the last 20 years, the Art Museum has collected Nordic contemporary art. Malmö Art Museum belongs to the Culture Department of Malmö city.

Malmö Art Museum foresees an exciting future. With one of Sweden’s largest collections of Nordic arts and crafts, Malmö city is exploring various options for a new Art Museum. The purpose is to make this extensive collection more accessible for the people living in Malmö as well as for a national and international audience.
Job description
Your primary duties will include conceiving and producing exhibitions, overseeing and developing the collection and managing responsibility for the Art Museum’s economic well-being.
As the Director you will lead an organisation including 15 professionals within the Art Museum. Therefore, the successful candidate needs to have thorough leadership experience. Applicants should have completed a degree in Art History, Art studies, or a comparable relevant subject. Experience in curating exhibitions independently within the framework of an Art Museum or a similar institution is essential.
This position requires fluency in Swedish. Candidates who are fluent in Danish or Norwegian will also be considered. Please submit your application no later than February 24.
