The Trondheim Academy of Fine Art is seeking applications from artists with a highly relevant artistic practice on an international level, and a distinct teaching experience based on a coherent approach to art education. Besides practical skills, knowledge and critical understanding of relevant technologies in the field, both positions require interest in and experience with innovative teaching methods, initiating cross-disciplinary projects, institutional networks and artistic development work.

Associate Professor / Professor with a focus on material and spatial practices
100% fixed-term position of 6 years
The person employed will be responsible for teaching, research and artistic development within the expanded field of three-dimensional artworks, plastic materials and sculptural processes, with particular emphasis on material and spatial practices in contemporary art. KiT is equipped with a recently renovated wood and metal workshop of the highest technical standard, which takes a central role. The employee must guide students in the field of material and spatial practices and will be involved in the teaching of other students including supervision of fellows on the PhD level.

Associate Professor / Professor with a focus on art and technologies
100% fixed-term position of 6 years
The (Associate) Professor has special responsibility for teaching in the international master's program. The international MFA program is designed for artists with the ambition to develop and enrich their individual studio practice with cross-disciplinary investigations in a wide range of different fields of knowledge. Situated within the international research context of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and operating in a Faculty of Architecture and Fine Art, the program offers a unique environment to expand the depth and complexity of self-initiated, creative work and to experiment with new approaches across disciplines and technologies.

The employee will be responsible for teaching, research and artistic development within the field of media technologies in contemporary art and artistic research methodologies currently at stake. Besides practical skills, and knowledge and critical understanding of relevant technologies in the field, the position requires interest in and experience with innovative teaching methods, initiating cross-disciplinary projects, institutional networks and artistic research. Deeper insight into contemporary art theory is required. Very good teamwork skills are essential.

About the Trondheim Academy of Fine Art:
The Trondheim Academy of Fine Art is a Department of the Faculty of Architecture and Fine Art at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). It is organized as a flexible and experimental educational and research institution and is well known as the first art academy in the Nordic countries to offer education in media art. Today, the unique environment for art and technology in NTNU allows students on Master and Bachelor levels to expand the depth and complexity of their studio practice and to experiment with new approaches across different disciplines and technologies. The Academy has an open structure in which students are free to choose the subject areas on which they want to concentrate during their period of study. These areas include both old and new, analog and digital technologies in the fields of painting, printmaking, photography, sculpture, time-based arts and moving image.

The Trondheim Academy of Fine Art has a faculty of 18 staff members, about 40 guest lecturers per year from Norway and all over the world, 75 students in bachelor and master programs and three fellows connected to the national program for artistic research. In addition to this, three researchers are temporarily employed in the framework of two artistic research projects.

The Academy will use the ongoing academic reorganization of NTNU in order to further sharpen the profile and expand its research capacities in its two fields of competence: Art and Technology, as well as Art and Common space.
