Female Puppeteer Singer needed for an
Immersive Promenade Site Specific Music Concert Performance
Wild Art is an exciting new performance company based in LA, after years of producing in New York. Our next production examines American’s new fear of extreme weather after Hurricane Sandy and the extreme drought of 2012. Using very little text, the performance relies on expressive visuals, shadow imagery, and music to express what cannot be put into words.
Role:"The Guide" is a flood victim in a drought. Pregnant if female. Will be responsible for two bird puppets (no voices) and will work extensively with overhead projector shadow work. Will also be in charge of the movement of the audience as they walk through the space. Sings and has lines.
Requirements:
You will be one of four in the cast. Must be comfortable performing in close proximity to the audience, often confronting the audience one by one.***Playing an instrument is not required, but would be very exciting if you do. Insurance will be provided for instruments that you would use during rehearsal and performance.
Actor musicians must be open to the idea of touring, with consideration to your schedule and provided advance notice.
Timeline:
Beginning of December : Band Rehearsals begin. Band rehearsals are conducted by composer and band leader. They will be two weeknights a week, from 7 - 11pm. Specific days will depend on everyone’s availability.
January 2: Full acting rehearsal begins January 2, on Saturday & Sunday, plus two nights a week for band practice. Specific days will depend on everyone’s availability.
February 1: Load in to Venue. All actors are expected to help with load in. 7-11pm
February 2 - 4: Tech & Dress Rehearsal, time TBD.
February 4: Dress rehearsal & tech notes 7-11pm
February 5: Preview 8pm
February 6: Opening 8pm
Performances Thursday & Friday night at 8pm. Saturday 7pm & 9pm.
Performance run from February 6 - February 28
Location:Rehearsals will be at a studio off the 5, just south of the 110.
Auditions:Auditions will be held post Thanksgiving.

Compensation: $1000 flat fee
This is a site specific performance installation music concert. It is not an actors equity theater agreement.
$500 will be given on first day of rehearsal. $500 will be given on first preview. Because everyone needs to make a living, we will do our best to accommodate your schedule so you can work elsewhere while in rehearsal. However, once rehearsal schedule is set, we expect keeping to that schedule.
