The City of Dallas in the search for a Director of Cultural Affairs. Reporting to the Assistant City Manager, the Director will guide the City's support for thriving artistic and cultural opportunities that enhance the quality of life for Dallas residents and visitors and strengthen partnerships among artists, arts nonprofits, business leaders and government. The Office of Cultural Affairs (OCA) acts as the steward of city-owned arts facilities and infrastructure, funds and encourages investment in the Dallas art community and cultural centers, and builds audience for culturally important events, exhibitions, performances and festivals. The OCA has a staff of 70 full-time and some part-time positions working primarily in Grants, Facilities, Public Art and WRR Radio, a publicly-owned station which reaches a 100 mile radius in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The Director is simultaneously the chief strategist, advocate and tactical leader advancing the cultural life of Dallas. She or he will have an opportunity to give shape and focus to functions of the OCA within the city's overall economic and cultural development policy, and will work with Dallas arts organizations, arts funders, artists, advocates, educators, business and community leaders and city officials.
