SOCIAL MEDIA INTERNSHIP
The Santa Monica Museum of Art is seeking an unpaid Social Media and Marketing intern to help raise the museum's visibility through the creation of a social media strategy, producing museum-related online content, and assisting in targeted community outreach campaigns. The ideal candidate should have a passion for the web, and enthusiasm for following and analyzing social media dynamics and trends. Solid writing, communication, and social skills are essential. Design skills, knowledge of Wordpress, and video editing skills are a plus. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual to gain hands-on experience in the External Affairs department of a contemporary art museum.
Responsibilities:
-Raise the Museum's visibility through social media
-Learn and helping to implement the Museum's digital communications roadmap
-Create and maintain the Museum's social media editorial calendar
-Manage social network accounts: Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Vimeo, and YouTube
-Work closely with the director of marketing to write, develop, and post approved content
-Create and distribute fliers/posters for the Museum's exhibitions and public programs
-Maintain the Museum's database of community partners
Qualifications:
Applicant should be able to work a minimum of 16 hours per week for a minimum of three months. The majority of hours are in the office during weekdays, but weekend or evening event support may occasionally be required.
