technical ability. Founded in 1986, LACC performs frequently with leading
music ensembles including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Hollywood Bowl
Orchestra, Los Angeles Master Chorale, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Calder
Quartet, and Pasadena Symphony. LACC also assists LA Opera by training and
providing children for its opera productions that require children’s chorus
or child soloists.

LACC’s main activities are the rehearsal and performance of fine,
wide-ranging choral music, as well as comprehensive musicianship and theory
training for young people ages 8-18. A First Experiences in Singing program
and ensemble introduce 6-7 year children to the foundational elements and
joy of music making. LACC also produces free and low-cost professional-level
concerts; performs in choral exchanges with visiting choirs; offers a
vibrant program of community engagement; and tours extensively. LACC has
toured Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Estonia,
Finland, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Sweden, and many
parts of the United States

During 2011|2012, LACC's season encompasses diverse projects from
Shakespeare to Mahler to South Africa, and the rich and varied musical
journey is captured in the season’s theme, Discovery. Highlights of the
season include a Hollywood Bowl performance with the Los Angeles
Philharmonic in Philip Glass’ Powaqqatsi; a choral exchange with the
Australian Girls Choir; a festive “Holiday Candlelight” evening with the
Pasadena Symphony; LACC’s traditional Winter and Spring Concerts;
performances on the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s Mahler Project in Mahler’s
3rd and 8th Symphonies with Gustavo Dudamel; performances of Puccini’s La
Bohème with the LA Opera; and a world premiere performance of a commissioned
work by Icelandic composer Daníel Bjarnason on the Los Angeles
Philharmonic’s Sounds About Town series at Walt Disney Concert Hall with
American Youth Symphony under the direction of LA Opera’s Music Director
James Conlon. The season will wrap with the Concert Choir’s summer tour to
South Africa. LACC will serve 60,000+ audience members of all ages and
backgrounds through local activities and tours.

Among its numerous accomplishments, LACC produced a commissioned
world-premiere opera, Keepers of the Night (2007), by composer Peter Ash and
librettist Donald Sturrock, which featured 65 children and four adult opera
singers; appears on the recording of Amore Infinito (“Infinite Love”), a
Deutsche Grammophon release of songs based on poems by the late Pope John
Paul II and performed by Plácido Domingo (released March 2009); and is
featured on the CD A Good Understanding, the Los Angeles Master Chorale’s
2010 recording of Nico Muhly on Decca.

LACC is also featured in the 2002 Academy Award-nominated documentary Sing!
and sequel documentaries Sing Opera! (2008) and Sing China! (2009) by

stations nationwide.
