Job Title: Digital Media Program Coordinator
Salary and Benefits: $38,000 - $40,000 DOE + benefits
Hours: Full-time

Background:
The Little Tokyo Service Center Community Development Corporation (LTSC CDC) is a fast-paced nonprofit community development organization with a rapidly expanding portfolio of affordable housing and community development projects in Los Angeles, and an array of service programs including job development, childcare, youth programming and business development. The LTSC CDC Community Technology department offers technology training and access to underserved seniors, youth, and families in Los Angeles.

In 1999 LTSC established the DISKovery Computer Learning Center to provide technology education and access primarily to older adults and seniors. From basic computer classes to digital storytelling, the DISKovery Center seeks to bridge the digital divide and help older adults utilize technology in the digital age. Over the past few years the DISKovery Center has expanded its digital storytelling program to underserved youth in Los Angeles. Last year, the Digital Institute for Youth Media (DIY Media) was launched to provide underserved youth in the Los Angeles area with access to valuable video production and media skills. Youth who excel in our DIY Media program are selected to work as youth apprentices for DIY Productions (www.diyproductions.org), a recently launched social enterprise and production company. Apprentices will use the skills they learned in our DIY Media courses to create short promotional videos and social media campaigns for non-profit, business and other clients.

Summary of Duties:

The Digital Media Program Coordinator, reporting to the Director of Community Technology, shall be primarily responsible for coordinating and further developing the DIY Media and Productions programs, including the production of videos for clients, teaching digital media and filmmaking courses, and managing the recruitment and coordination of program teachers when applicable. A secondary responsibility of the Coordinator is to oversee operations and programs at LTSC's DISKovery Computer Learning Center.

DIY Program responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating and teaching the DIY Media filmmaking classes and workshops.
- Building relationships with local schools and other youth-serving organizations and partners to recruit youth to the DIY program.
- Working with non-profit and business clients to assess their needs; developing proposals and budgets for video and social media projects; engaging clients throughout the production process.
- Developing and executing a marketing and outreach plan to secure clients for DIY Productions.
- Guiding youth filmmaking apprentices to assist in the planning, filming, and editing of public service announcements for clients.
- Working with youth filmmaking apprentices to develop and execute social media plans and setups for clients.
- Teaching and coordinating the annual Summer Intensive Training Institute for the new cohort of youth apprentices.
- Developing curriculum for the digital media classes and Intensive Training Institute, including topics such as film production, editing, animation, sound, lighting, Photoshop, Flash, After Effects, acting, and business, entrepreneurial and marketing skills.
- Developing and implementing a pipeline to place youth apprentices in internships with community and corporate organizations.
- Managing the marketing, communications and promotion of DIY Media/ Productions, including developing promotional materials and regularly updating the website, and other social media platforms.

DISKovery Center responsibilities will include:
- Working closely with the instructor(s) to develop, layout and mail the class schedule each session (3 times per year).
- Working closely with the instructor(s) to update and develop basic computers, internet and job skills curricula.
- Coordinating the class registration and membership process each session.
- Outreach and coordination of facilities rentals.
- Supervision of the Administrative Assistant to ensure proper tracking of financial transactions and database management.
- Updating and maintaining the Diskovery, Digital Histories website and Facebook page as needed.
- Troubleshooting computer issues and working with IT staff to coordinate regular maintenance of computers.
- General maintenance and upkeep of the Center and its equipment.
- Digital Histories: coordinate class, oversee instruction, coordinate festival submissions and accreditations, serve on LA APFF film selection committee
- Coordinate volunteers, steering committee, interns

Qualifications and Experience:

Candidates for the Coordinator position should have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor' s degree in media or a related field
- Strong understanding of and passion for film production
- Expert knowledge of Final Cut Pro, Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, After Effects & OSX
- Basic IT knowledge and ability to troubleshoot computer issues
- Background in marketing and communications
- Substantial experience with utilizing social media tools such as Facebook, Twitter, blogs, etc. for marketing and/ or promotional purposes
- Experience in teaching media and/or technology, preferably to youth
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written
- Highly organized, with a strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities in a fast-paced environment effectively
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with clients, seniors and youth
- Experience and commitment to working with a community-based non-profit organization in a multi-cultural environment
