Community School is accepting applications for teaching artists in Dance, Theater, Music and Visual Arts for the 2011-2012 school year.
Community School of the Arts Foundation mission is: to provide an opportunity for children to
experience thinking and feeling about internal and external issues in a way
that they had never done so before crossing paths with the organization’s
programming. CSAF is committed to the artistic growth of disadvantage children
through arts education where they learn discipline, teamwork, self-respect,
confidence, excellence, vision and literature.
Job description:
Develop a sequential, standards-based
curriculum in the arts
Teach an arts discipline across
multiple grade levels
Address the learning needs of
diverse student populations
Identify and plan cross curriculum
connections in and across multiple
subject areas
Submit documentation of teaching
practice, including curriculum,
lesson plans and assessments.
Represent Community School of the
Arts Foundation amongst multiple school community stakeholders,
including classroom teachers, parents, administration, and donors
Apply knowledge and skills through
ongoing professional development
into teaching practice
Skills, Qualifications, Requirements:
BA degree in arts, education, community
arts or relevant field of
study. MA/MFA preferred.
Minimum three years of teaching
experience, preferably in undeserved
school communities
Demonstrate in-depth knowledge and
expertise in a specific arts
discipline
Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of
or a familiarity with the California
Visual And Performing Arts Standards.
Ability to work collaboratively in
a school environment and with
various school community members
Compensation:
Salary dependent on experience and education.
