Job title: Head of Exhibition Research & Development (Tate Modern)

This is a unique opportunity to join our internationally renowned Curatorial Department, responsible for creating and presenting an extensive programme of exhibitions, collection displays and commissions along with film and performance events at Tate Modern. As a senior member of the team you'll play a pivotal role in one of the art world's most exciting developments: Transforming Tate Modern (TTM). Led by the Chief Curator, this groundbreaking project is dedicated towards the expansion of Tate Modern, attracting new, diverse audiences and seeing its gallery space double in size.

About the role
Drawing on your intellectual, art historical and curatorial expertise, you'll be fundamental to the intellectual development and creative vision of Tate's future programme. Bringing a fresh approach and the confidence to challenge ideas while stimulating debate, you'll work with the Chief Curator to expand and deepen the role of research and development that underpins the programme. You'll also support the development of collaborative projects with other cultural and international organisations, as well as helping to develop the diversity and international dimension of the exhibition programme, without curating exhibitions yourself. As a key member of the Tate Modern Curatorial Team, you'll be well-placed to contribute to Tate's future Learning, Research, Publishing and Media strategies.

About you
As an experienced historian or curator, you're looking to further expand your understanding of international modern and contemporary art (including non-Western art). Highly intellectual, you have a postgraduate degree in the history of art (or a relevant field), extensive knowledge and experience of creating world-class exhibitions, a well-developed network of contacts from a long-established university or museum background and a track record that demonstrates significant commitment to the field. A lateral thinker, you'll have the dynamism and gravitas to lead and challenge debates around global art issues.
