JOB ANNOUNCEMENT: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
The Arts Council for Long Beach, a nonprofit local arts agency founded
in 1976, which works in close cooperation with city government and is
now housed within the city's economic development office, seeks a
visionary executive director. The Arts Council for Long Beach is the
unifying organization for arts and cultural services in the City of Long
Beach, the second largest city in Los Angeles County and the 36th
largest in the country. There are more than 125 nonprofit arts
organizations in Long Beach and over 1,000 professional visual and
performing artists.
The Arts Council has programs in five major areas:
* Neighborhood and Educational Programs
* Professional Development
* Grants
* Marketing Services for Artists and Cultural Organizations
* Public Art

The Executive Director is responsible for implementing the management of
these programs and planning for the future.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in program
development and implementation, strategic planning, board and external
relations, marketing and fundraising, and in at least two key program
areas: arts education, technical assistance programs, grant making,
marketing, or public art. In addition, demonstrated proficiencies in
building and maintaining strong relationships among a broad cross
section of business, government and community leaders and outstanding
communication skills are crucial.
Minimum five to seven years experience in a senior staff management role
in an arts agency or arts organization is required. An advanced degree
is preferred and familiarity with southern California and the South Bay
in particular is desirable.
Competitive benefits package; salary range $75,000 to $85,000; EOE;
