2009 World Press Photo contest calls for entries

The World Press Photo, a non-profit organization based in the
Netherlands, is now inviting photojournalists and professional
photographers to enter the 2009 World Press Photo contest. Deadline
for submissions: January 15, 2009.
Entries may be entered as single images or stories/portfolios in ten
categories: Spot News, General News, People in the News, Sports
Action, Sports Feature, Contemporary Issues, Daily Life, Portraits,
Arts and Entertainment and Nature.
The winning pictures will compose a traveling exhibition in more than
90 locations worldwide. In the 2008 contest, 80,536 images were
submitted by 5,019 photographers from 125 countries, according to the
contest organizers.
All contest entry information is now available at
http://www.worldpressphoto.org/contest in nine languages. (English,
Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Arabic and
Chinese).
Entries can either be submitted on a CD/DVD by post/prepaid courier
or online via the Web entry site from December 1.
