Introducing: THE SKYLARK PRIZE
The annual Skylark Prize will be awarded to an artist whose work has proven
to be innovative, while consistent in its quality for a period of at least
ten years.
Postmark Deadline for Entries: September 1, 2008.
Winners will be notified February 2009.
Exhibitions and Award Ceremonies will be held in Spring 2009.
Founded in 2007 in conjunction with The Art Fund Corporation, Skylark Press
works in partnership with artists and assists in building their careers
through communication tools such as catalogs, books, consulting services and
exhibition programs. Together with its partners, Sias International
University, Fabrik Magazine and Skylark Fine Art Gallery, Skylark Press is
pleased to announce the initiation of the international competition for the
SKYLARK PRIZE. The motivation behind the creation of the Skylark Prize
came from the realization that few competitions and awards are available to
mid-career level artists. The concept of the Skylark Prize is two-fold - To
honor and recognize the artist's work, and assist the artist in broadening
the market for his or her work.
The award, a sculpture, designed by internationally acclaimed artist Richard
Erdman, will be accompanied by:
. Fellowship: An exclusive 6 week fully paid Fellowship (including trips to
Beijing and Shanghai), at the prestigious Sias International University, in
Zhengzou, China
. Cash: Cash Prize of $2,000
. Exhibit: A solo exhibition at Skylark Fine Art Gallery in Los Angeles
. Catalog: A catalog produced for the artist by Skylark Press Five
Additional Prizes
The work of five additional artists will be chosen for a group show at
Skylark Fine Art Gallery. A separate catalog will be produced for these
artists.
