Harmony Channel invites the Visual Music community to submit fulldome VM art pieces to this year's DomeFest being held in Chicago, Illinois as part of the International Planetarium Society's 2008 conference. The juried show will be screened on the big dome at Adler Planetarium, and includes a special Harmony Channel "Domie" award for best mood-elevating visual music piece.
Are you up to rendering your work in spherical "fisheye" format at 3600x3600 pixels? It's really a unique experience to be totally immersed in your art. The full day event also includes a Future of Fulldome Summit including papers, panels and a standards roundtable.
See preliminary announcement below:
************************
We¹re thrilled to announce DF08 will be held at and in partnership with
Adler Planetarium and the International Planetarium Society. The festival
is 03 July 08--following the IPS meeting and sharing program and effort with
a special fulldome summit of the IPS Fulldome Video Committee. DF08 will
have a truncated program similar to DF07.
It¹ll be one eye-blowing night in Chicago:
+ 2008 Juried Show premiere
+ Domie Awards presentations
+"Making of..." presentations and screenings
+ Demonstrations of interactive applications
+ Good people building community and friendships
* We're also working to establish a dome at SIGGRAPH 2008 to give fulldome
and DF08 contributors exposure to that important community.
The fest-site - http://www.domefest.org - should be up next week but here are some of
the nuggets many of you have been requesting. Please help spread the word.
All progress to date has come from community-building one connection at a
time.
