My most recent painting! Wax dye resist (batik) and acrylics with cut out wood veneer leaves applique on distressed warped wood panel. The original grains & knots on the wood dictates an image of a womens body that was predominantly vivid. This was the initial inspiration towards this painting. The wood surface told me what to paint so to speak! This aspect of batiking on wood doesn't come very often. This is also my first attempt on applying (pasted/glued) cut out & batiked leaf shapes wood veneers to give it a more 3 dimensional effect. It also has a double purpose of camouflaging the distressed areas of the wood. No frame is included in this piece as it is ready to be displayed on the wall as it is.
