Submissions invited for AMAL film festival
Filmmakers can submit their work to the Pan-Arab film festival AMAL scheduled to be held from October 22 to 31 in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. Submission deadline: July 31.
Any film, documentary film, or short film by an Arab filmmaker or co-produced with a producer from another country is eligible to be considered for inclusion in the festival. Films that are not produced or co-produced by an Arab filmmaker but which focus on issues related to the Arab world are also eligible for submission.
Interested producers should send a preview copy of their film in VHS or DVD format, a completed entry form, the director's C.V. and photograph in addition to press and publicity material if available.
Entries should also be accompanied by copyright certification, a copy of the film script, and a synopsis translated into English, French or Spanish.
The best documentary will be awarded EUR 2,500 (about US $3,350).
According to the festival's website, AMAL began in 2003 and arises from the need of creating an audiovisual collaboration space between Spain and the Arab world to promote both merging industries. The festival is organized by the Araguaney Foundation based in Spain.
