MIA Photo Fair BNP Paribas opens applications for its 2027 edition in Milan.
MIA Photo Fair BNP Paribas, Italy's leading international art fair dedicated to photography and contemporary image-based practices, has officially opened applications for its 2027 edition, taking place March 18–21, 2027, at Superstudio Più in Milan's Tortona design district.
Organized by Fiere di Parma and led by Artistic Director Francesca Malgara, MIA Photo Fair BNP Paribas continues to position itself as a key platform for dialogue and exchange among galleries, artists, collectors, curators, institutions, and photography professionals from Italy and abroad.
Over the years, the fair has developed a distinctive curatorial identity, with each edition exploring a theme that reflects the transformations and urgencies of contemporary society. The journey began with Changing, followed by Dialogues and Metamorphosis. For its 2027 edition, the fair turns to Belonging, inviting artists, galleries, and audiences to reflect on identity, connection, memory, place, and the many ways in which photography can express our sense of belonging in a rapidly changing world.
Applications
Galleries interested in participating in the 2027 edition may submit their applications until December 10, 2026, by contacting miafair@fiereparma.it.
An Early Bird rate is available for applications received by October 20, 2026.
A curatorial platform for contemporary photography
The Main Section remains at the heart of the fair, bringing together leading Italian and international galleries specializing in photography and contemporary image-based practices, while fostering dialogue between artistic research, the art market, and visual culture.
Beyond Photography—Dialogue / Work in Progress, curated by Rischa Paterlini, expands the field of photography into hybrid practices and experimental forms of image-making, including installation, moving image, archives, and digital technologies.
Reportage Beyond Reportage, curated by Emanuela Mazzonis di Pralafera, explores contemporary documentary practices that move beyond traditional reportage toward more layered and interpretative forms of visual storytelling.
Awards & acquisitions
The fair also presents a series of awards supporting artists, galleries, and the development of photographic collections, including:
BNL BNP Paribas Award—an acquisition prize contributing to the bank's art collection. Fiere di Parma Fund—dedicated to the acquisition of outstanding works presented at the fair. Additional Award—supporting both artists and participating galleries.
A growing international platform
The 2026 edition welcomed 13,000 visitors, 114 exhibitors, and 77 galleries, confirming MIA Photo Fair BNP Paribas as a leading platform for photography and contemporary visual culture in Italy.
More than a marketplace, MIA Photo Fair BNP Paribas has evolved into a dynamic cultural platform connecting artistic research, collecting, critical dialogue, and the evolving languages of photography.
