About Callie’s
Housed in a former machine factory, Callie’s is a non-profit founded to foster creativity, cultural exchange, and cross-disciplinary collaboration. Through residencies and public programs, Callie’s supports local and international artists while becoming a resource for its immediate community. Callie’s operates in the spirit of inquiry; its activities are a form of experimentation aimed at developing new models of social and artistic engagement.
The site encompasses large, flexible studio spaces, including dedicated sound and movement studios, a writing residency, and three on-site apartments to host visiting artists. Current residents include Anna-Sophie Berger, Pauline Boudry / Renate Lorenz, nora chipaumire, Stephanie Comilang, Benjamin Hirte, Isabel Lewis, and Kandis Williams.
Director of Callie’s (full-time)
The Director is responsible for the institution’s stewardship, management, and budget. The role encompasses strategic planning, fundraising, and the day-to-day operations on-site, including overseeing a small team of staff members.
Key responsibilities
Leadership and strategic development
–Lead the strategic direction of Callie’s, aligning with its mission
–Develop and implement a strategic plan detailing objectives and fundraising strategies
Fundraising and budgeting
–Identify, secure, and maintain funding sources, focusing on building a sustainable future in a transitional funding climate
–Prepare and manage budgets in collaboration with the Office Manager
Operations
–Manage Callie’s day-to-day operations in collaboration with the Deputy Director
–Provide fair and dynamic leadership to a team of four employees
–Oversee the institution’s communications, including written and visual content, ensuring they align with Callie’s ethos
Residency
–Oversee the residency program
–Ensure the program maintains the highest standards
Ideal qualifications and experience
–Proven experience in fundraising, team management, and leadership
–Exceptional communication, writing, and editing skills in English (native-level preferred)
–Strong organizational abilities and decision-making skills
–Experience working with artists
–Strong network in contemporary art
–Budget management and financial planning skills

Working conditions and location
–The contract is permanent
–40 hours/week, Monday-Friday
–Earliest start date: March 1, 2025, or as soon as possible
