VIRIDIAN ARTISTS IS LOOKING FOR AN ART GALLERY DIRECTOR WITH 2-5 YEARS EXPERIENCE IN THIS OR SIMILAR POSITION TO WORK THURSDAY- SATURDAY

Viridian Artists Inc. is an artist-owned, professionally-operated gallery, located in the prestigious Chelsea region of Manhattan, home to some of New York’s finest and most highly respected art galleries. Viridian is one of the city’s oldest artist-owned galleries. Widely regarded as an outstanding showcase for emerging and established artists from the continental USA and around the world, Viridian supports a broad range of original and innovative work that meets the highest aesthetic standards.

The Gallery Director will report to the Board of Directors. In addition, with the help of the Associate Director, the Director:

• Must be available to be present in the Gallery on Saturdays

• Manages finances using QuickBooks & Excel with support of bookkeeper & accountant

• Has working knowledge of 501(c)(3) organizations, grant writing & fundraising

• Recruits & maintains membership

• Determines art sale opportunities, including marketing, advertising, promotion & seeking of new opportunities online, in print, and through personal connections

• Determines the scheduling of exhibitions and chooses themes and titles for group exhibitions

• Finds curators for juried exhibitions

• Writes press releases in collaboration with the artist, invitations to jurors, etc.

• Oversees monthly exhibition installation

• Director attends all Gallery events, such as openings and closings, and manages resources required for them including food, drinks, bartender, etc.

The Director and Associate Director will be in the Gallery 3 days each, overlapping one day.

Salary range for Director’s position: $30-$35/hr
