Foto Arsenal Wien (FAW) is the new center for photography and lens-based media in Austria. Kunsthalle Wien (KHW) is the City of Vienna’s primary institution for contemporary art.

FAW and KHW are collaborating to develop a new concept for the City of Vienna’s Festival of Media Arts. Originally conceived as an annual event in 2020, it has explored the intersection between contemporary art, lens-based media, digital culture and technology.

FAW and KHW are looking for an experienced and dynamic curator who will play a pivotal role in reconfiguring the festival to include an experimental online platform for exhibiting digital commissions public programmes within an annual festival. The curator will be part of the FAW and KHW program team on an alternate annual basis, and will use their expertise to strengthen the competence of both institutions in the field of digital art. Knowledge and understanding of current, critical discourses on art and technology (lens-based) and collaboration with artists and curating exhibitions that appeal to a broad audience are an essential pillar.
