TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes, the contemporary arts centre of the Tenerife Island Authority or Cabildo, has announced that it is looking for an artistic director. This selection process, which will be open until April 17, 2018 and will be governed by a procedure of public competition, in which the suitability of the projects presented will be evaluated, as well as the curriculum vitae or the career history of the candidates. The person selected will have a contract for three years, which can be extended (for a maximum of two further years). The contract will be for 55,000 EUR a year, plus IGIC. TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes, which opened to the public in 2008, is an arts centre with a collection of its own, the objective of which is to favour the creation of cultural experiences linked to the sphere of contemporary artistic activity. Currently, its actions are in the area of encouraging experimentation and artistic research, support for young creators as well as young curators, giving greater visibility to female artistic creation, the dissemination of the figure of Óscar Domínguez and the historical avant-garde, the formation and consolidation of a collection and the encouragement of contemporary critical thought.
Among the main functions of the artistic director of TEA is that of presenting to the management of the centre—to be put to the Board of Directors—an artistic project and a programme of activities in accordance with it, for approval, in line with the programme and directives of the centre. Furthermore, he/she must plan and coordinate the project and the programme of activities in accordance with the material and human resources that TEA has available, for correct execution, by preparing each year, jointly with the management, the memorandum of activities to be carried out by the centre.
