The GRAMMY Museum's Jane Ortner Education Award program is seeking proposals from teaching artists who can lead professional development workshops in music integration for K-12 academic teachers (e.g. social science/history, English language arts, math, science, foreign languages, etc.)

ABOUT THE JANE ORTNER EDUCATION AWARD
The Jane Ortner Education Award is a free program that celebrates K-12 educators who use music as a tool for teaching academic content standards. Applicants submit one original curriculum and are then eligible for prizes and professional development opportunities. Educators can also access our online library of music-integrated curricula at no cost. More information is available at www.janeortnereducationaward.org.

WORKSHOP DATES
Throughout the 2016-17 school year (TBA)

WORKSHOP GUIDELINES
These workshops should be designed to provide K-12 teachers across the curriculum with creative strategies and skills for integrating music into their academic classrooms. Participants should also acquire tools for developing their own music-integrated classroom lessons, which they may submit for the 2017 Jane Ortner Education Award. Workshop content should be accessible to all participants, especially those who may have little or no musical background.

A session may be:

-Centered on specific elementary, middle, or high school units (ex. "Studying the Civil Rights movement in a high school social studies class" or "Facilitating mathematical learning and language skills in early elementary students")
OR
-A broader exploration of ways to incorporate music into K-12 academic classrooms

-Coordinate with GRAMMY Museum staff and attend a meeting/walkthrough prior to the workshop
