Job Title: Industrial Arts Lead Instructor
Salary: $13.00 – $17.55 per hour
Reports to: Art Director
Position Location: 8740 Washington Blvd., Culver City, CA 90230
Job Responsibilities: The Industrial Arts Lead Instructor will work with consumers (developmentally disabled adults) to create various art products (stretched and cut canvas, wood frames, dry mount, and matting). Will provide instruction in various woodworking techniques as well as the proper use of a variety of power and hand tools including mitre saw, table saw, and pneumatic tools. Ensure the safety and well being of the consumers and help maintain an overall enjoyable workshop for the participants. The Instructor will work with the consumers in a group setting in a fun and energetic atmosphere.
Qualifications: HS diploma or its equivalent. Two years experience in industrial art production or teaching/supervising individuals with developmental disabilities in a workshop setting. Experience working with wood and woodworking tools and a variety of power tools. A portfolio of products or sculptures created is required. Knowledge of the safe operation and maintenance of a mitre saw, table saw, pneumatic tools, various power tools. Experience working with the developmentally disabled community is highly preferred, but not required.
