Sacred Fools is seeking a Music Director for the West Coast premiere of the
musical CHINA - THE WHOLE ENCHILADA, by Mark Brown, with musical
arrangements by Paul Mirkovich. Director: Allison Bibicoff. There are some
rehearsals in December, with a break for the holidays, and continuing in
January for a February 4 opening. The rehearsals schedule is very flexible
and will be set once we have a cast - we are open to daytime or evening
rehearsals. The MD is NOT needed to play the show - only to teach the
music, play most rehearsals, and possibly play auditions. There is a small
stipend. Please contact Allison@AllisonBibicoff.com asap. To learn more
about the director, go to www.AllisonBibicoff.com.
About the show:
Straight from being named Outstanding Musical at the New York International
Fringe Festival, China is three white guys irreverently singing, dancing,
and hysterically marching their way through five thousand occasionally
misconstrued years of Chinese history in 90 minutes.
All songs are original, and include the “Khan-Khan” - a Can-Can with
Genghis Khan, Kublai Khan, and Ricardo Montalban as Khan from Star Trek II
- The Wrath of Khan; a duet with Ming the Merciless and Fu Manchu; a
vaudeville sketch about Yellow Peril; the Opium Wars explained through a
sketch called Hu’s on First; a Chinese fire drill; the birth of the fortune
cookie; and a headlong plunge into racism, human rights, and infanticide.
