 Fall Internship, Family Programs
 
The Skirball’s Education Department is offering one fall internship position for an undergraduate or graduate student in the area of Family Programs . Working closely with members of the Education Department, which focuses on providing intergenerational learning experiences through the Skirball’s exhibitions and collections, the Family Programs Intern will help coordinate and develop programs for families in a drop-in art studio setting, a hands-on simulated archaeological dig site, and several special events. The Family Programs intern will also have the opportunity to gain gallery teaching experience. 
 
The internship is full time (40 hours/week) and 10 weeks in duration (October 1st –December 10, 2013). The total compensation is $3,500. Benefits are not provided.
 
Responsibilities:
* Assist with developing projects and activities for children and families.
* Work alongside a team of diverse and talented museum educators
* Help to plan, coordinate, and execute education al programming such as workshops and special weekend events for children and families
* Assist with facilitating a 6 week pre-K program
 
Qualifications:
* Undergraduate or graduate student, preferably with background or interest in museum studies, early childhood education , visual art, or science.
* Computer literacy.
* Excellent communication and organizational skills.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced, multisensory, stimulating work environment.
* Ability to problem-solve independently and collaborate with others.
* Ability to work directly with museum visitors of all ages and diverse backgrounds.
* Availability to work one weekend day per week.
