The Autry is seeking well-qualified candidates for the position of part-time Outreach Teacher. Utilizing replicas and hands-on objects, Outreach Teachers travel to elementary schools throughout the Los Angeles area and facilitate inquiry-based workshops for students (grades 3-5) in a classroom setting. Candidates must possess a deep commitment to creative and engaging forms of teaching and student engagement. As vital members of the Education Department, Outreach Teachers implement grade-appropriate lesson materials based on museum themes and aligned to California Academic Content Standards and Curriculum Frameworks, as well as lead professional development workshops for teachers, assist in the development of new curriculum, and provide assistance for museum events. Travel is required for this position, and therefore reliable transportation is a must. Although the position is part time, candidates must commit to a Monday-Friday work schedule throughout the academic year.
Candidates should possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in history, education, museum studies, art, art history, or related field, as well as prior experience in teaching educational programs in a museum or other informal educational environment.

• Ability to lift 30 lbs;
• Knowledge of Los Angeles area
• Must be flexible and detail oriented
