Harmony Project is an award-winning research-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that targets at-risk youth in underserved areas of Los Angeles. We promote positive youth development through year-round music lessons and ensemble participation.
We are currently hiring a Program Coordinator for a 4-week research project this summer.
The ideal candidate will possess:
* A personal mission, vision and values that align with Harmony Project's
* A passion for social change, community empowerment and youth development
* A deep knowledge of music, and preferably a degree in music performance, education or administration
* Excellent organizational skills, the ability to smoothly juggle and prioritize multiple complex tasks, and to be able to responsibly delegate as needed to support staff/volunteers
* Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish
* Superior written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work well with diverse stakeholders at every level of the organization
* A strong sense of humor and ability to gracefully handle stressful and sometimes troubling situations
* Fluency in all Microsoft Office programs, prior experience using contact databases
* A driver's license and proof of valid automobile insurance; flexible work schedule to include some weekends, weeknights, and holidays
The Program Coordinator (Research Project) is responsible for:
* Communicating with families to schedule appointments, including rescheduling as necessary and arranging for transportation
* Maintaining daily supplies necessary for the research project, including generator fuel and twice daily food delivery for study participants
* Helping participants and their families understand the value of the research project, and the importance of the role they play in it
* Serving as primary liaison to research team from Northwestern University and trouble-shooting as necessary
* Preparing detailed reports on program inputs to research team
* Additional tasks as requested
