Machine Project is seeking an event production intern. The event production intern will work directly on The Machine Project Field Guide to L.A. Architecture, a program series that is a part of Pacific Standard Time Presents: Modern Architecture in L.A..The event production intern will work closely with the Event Producer to research, coordinate, promote, and document all the events related to Field Guide. This internship is a valuable opportunity to learn about the production of site-specific artist projects, curatorial and logistics roles within a small non-profit setting, and work directly with a variety of Los Angeles-based artists.
Responsibilities may include:
Production Assistance on-site during events/performances and related film shoots
Writing copy for promotional materials, website, and press outreach
Location scouting and research, including getting rate quotes from potential sites
Provide direct production support for participating artists, including sourcing materials, equipment, people etc.
Update Machine’s website with event descriptions, images, and invitation information
Maintain internal wiki with artist and site information
Take notes and create action items from meetings with participating artists
Qualifications:
Experience in event planning is essential. Applicant must be outgoing and cooperative, able to collaborate and communicate clearly with a large number of people, work on a variety of projects in the course of a given day, and willing to volunteer when extra hands are needed. Good email communications, note-taking, and ability to quickly generate copy based on descriptions of projects are also essential. A familiarity with website maintenance and online services (Wordpress, wikis, Eventbrite) is preferred. Additional experience with a variety of event types (music, performance, workshop, theater, lecture, etc) is also preferred.
Other information:
• Intern will be based at the Machine Project storefront in Echo Park, but will also work on-site at events throughout Los Angeles.
• Internship is from now until July 15th, 1-2 days per week, 8 hours minimum.
• This is an unpaid internship, but does include occasional free lunch
and class credit if applicable to your school.
