CALL FOR ENTRIES
The Arroyo Arts Collective is looking for 6 original puppet shows to be performed at the Ebell Club in Highland Park as part of Puppets Retake Northeast Los Angele, a puppetry festival in and around Highland Park. These shows will be selected by our jurors Christine Papalexis and Alan Cook. The Collective's intention is to showcase a representative sampling of new trends in contemporary puppetry. We would particularly like to see shows about Los Angeles and its colorful characters, the LA River, and the diversity that characterizes our city. We are hoping for a nice blend of family friendly shows and more experimental works that would appeal to an adult audience. Shows should be short (under 30min), self-contained or requiring short setup time, with modest lighting and sound requirements. Thanks to a generous grant from the Department of Cultural Affairs, City of Los Angeles, all chosen puppet shows will receive an honorarium of $300.
Proposals will need to be received by March 29, 2013 (not postmarked). Notifications to artists will go out by April 8th, 2013. The performances will be held at the Highland Park Ebell Club, May 23-25.
