The International Documentary Association (IDA) is looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and talented Development Associate to support the organization’s fundraising efforts. The Development Associate will assist the Executive Director and Development Director, working in the following areas: sponsorship sales, sponsorship activation, grant writing and reporting, membership development, donor stewardship, prospect research, and donor database management.
This is a full-time position with health and dental benefits; paid vacation and personal time; and 10 paid holidays per year. The ideal candidate will have already held a position such as Development Assistant, Fund Development Manager, or Sponsorship Coordinator with a career path aimed at Development Director. Salary is $38,000 - $45,000, dependent on experience.
The IDA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was founded in 1982 to provide support to documentary filmmakers. We provide essential programs and services in the following core areas: Education, Funding, Community & Advocacy. Responsibilities:
• Support the implementation of direct mail, email, membership and individual giving campaigns including drafting materials, managing production schedule – working with Development Director, program managers, and web department.
• Provide customer service to donors and sponsors by confirming receipt of contributions and fielding inquiries.
• Manage donor and sponsor database.
• Draft grant proposals and reports.
• Draft sponsorship proposals and assist with sponsorship activation.
• Draft development and fundraising collateral – print ads, brochures, postcards, etc.
• Mine database to re-engage lapsed donors, and increase giving levels.
• Conduct prospect research on individuals, corporations and foundations. Assist in identifying and cultivating funders.
• Organize and maintain development records, office files, and other materials.
• Provide occasional assistance outside the normal schedule to accommodate and support the office, especially during special events.
Qualifications:
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Hard working and results oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Strong attention to detail with ability to multi-task.
• Knowledge and experience in major donor solicitation, prospect researching, grant writing, and/or sponsorship sales.
• Excellent office and computer skills, including database management, Word, Excel, Power Point, and Internet Research required.
• Strong follow-through and ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Basic graphic-design experience and knowledge a plus, but not required.
Education Requirements:
BA or BS. Education requirements may be waived if candidate meets all the above skill, abilities and experiences.
