The Arts Council for Long Beach is seeking a temporary part time Community Projects Assistant to support the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Our Town grant. This position will be 10 hours a week and will begin in early December and run through the summer of 2013 (or otherwise determined). The Community Projects Assistant will be assisting Molly Gardner, Grants and Community Projects Manager; on a number of tasks relating to the Arts Council's A LOT Initiative.
The Arts Council for Long Beach promotes, supports, educates, funds and advocates for arts and culture in Long Beach. Founded in 1976, ACLB is a nonprofit 501(c) (3) organization governed by a local Board of Directors and managed by a professional staff.

The Arts Council's A LOT series will consist of qualified performers, artists, artist groups and organizations capable of and committed to creating performance-based artwork that activates vacant lots, buildings and other non-traditional locations within Long Beach neighborhoods. The Arts Council will be working with qualified community-conscious partners committed to close-to-home collaboration and artistic engagement with local residents. Underserved neighborhoods will enjoy the benefits afforded by dance, music, theatre, spoken word, video, installation, and multi-media performances, all offered free to the public. This initiative is intended to increase access to the arts and expand audiences so as to include both intentional viewers and casual passers-by.

The Community Projects Assistant will be a vital role in the implementation of this initiative and gain valuable experience in the field of presenting and arts management.

Duties:
- Assist with logistics and event coordination of the A LOT Initiative
- Support Day of Event activities for A LOT events during the Spring and Summer 2013
- Assist with A LOT Initiative documentation
- Gather measurable data from events and surveys
- Assist with marketing strategies, news releases and social media strategies
- Assist Grants and Community Projects Manager in other administrative tasks as assigned

Eligibility:
- Cal State Long Beach/Long Beach City College student/recent graduate or recent graduate from another university and lives in Long Beach
- Detail oriented
- Extremely reliable
- Excellent follow through
- Takes initiative
- Great writing skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Weekend and Summer 2013 availability
- Event planning/coordination experience
- Theatre/performance/stage set-up is a plus
