Reports to: Deputy Director and Membership Manager
Status: PT, Hourly, Non-exempt
Hours: Hours vary between 10-20 hours per week; weekend availability and some evenings required
Projected Start Date: August 2, 2012
The Visitor Services representative is responsible for providing excellent service to patrons of Laguna Art Museum.
Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Represents the museum in a professional, positive and helpful manner
Performs Admissions desk duties from opening to closing:
-registers member and non-member visitors in Altru system
-collects admissions and other payments by cash, check and credit card
-promotes and sells museum memberships
-creates daily financial reports for Business Manager
Manages incoming phone calls and directs them to proper department
Maintains current knowledge about museum exhibitions, operations and events
Understands museum facility rental policies and manages initial inquiries
Assists Membership Manager with duties as assigned
Maintains a clean and neat work environment and ensures a stock of appropriate brochures and other information at front desk
Assists customers in the museum store
Requirements:
Some college art or art history courses or an interest in the visual arts
Strong interpersonal communication skills
Experience with handling cash, working a cash register, POS system or database
Ability to work as a team player as well as independently
Physical Demands: The duties of this job may include sitting, standing, kneeling, and lifting or moving objects up to 20 lbs.; climbing stairs, and walking over varied terrain, repeated adjustments to varied lighting conditions, some museum spaces are not climate controlled and vary daily in temperature; some exposure to outdoor elements.
