The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA) has released its 2013-2014 grant guidelines and workshop schedules for nonprofit organizations. These can be found on the DCA website (http://culturela.org/grants/index.html).

The DCA application instructions and forms are also available through the Los Angeles Business Assistance Virtual Network (BAVN, http://www.labavn.org).

If your organization has an arts/cultural mission and a proposed project in any one of the following disciplines, you should be planning to submit an artistic project proposal or operating project proposal by August 17 (postmark deadline):

- Dance
- Multidisciplinary Arts
- Music
- Theatre
- Outdoor Festivals/Parades

If you intend to apply off-cycle from these categories you should call the DCA grants staff at 213.202.5566 and speak with either Sherlan Abesamis or Chris Riedesel.

Successful proposals from 2012-13 in arts management, culture/history, literary arts, media, traditional/folk art, or visual/design arts may be held over for 2013-14 with the completion and submission of a grant renewal form.

If your organization is contemplating a category change or has any questions about whether the upcoming deadline is for your type of organization/project, please call (213) 202-5566 to speak with Sherlan or Chris.

Applicant organizations are strongly encouraged to attend one of the DCA's free grant information workshops held July 17 - August 11 at sites/branch libraries throughout the City of LA. Dates, times and locations are listed on the DCA Cultural Grants application listing on LABAVN.org and on page 2 of the guidelines (http://culturela.org/grants/index.html).

Large budget organizations have the option of meeting with DCA Grants Director Joe Smoke for consultation and advice. Contact Joe directly by email to set up a phone appointment.

Please call us at (213) 202-5566 with any questions about the application. We look forward to your proposals and partnership.
