Laguna Art Museum seeks a full-time Membership Manager. The position will manage a comprehensive membership program and is responsible for the implementation of departmental strategies to attain the Museum's annual membership goals. The Membership Manager is a full-time, exempt member of the Development team reporting to the Deputy Director.
Principal duties and responsibilities:
• Prepares short and long-term plans and timelines for strategies related to maintaining and building the membership program
• Develops annual membership operating budget for approval and monitors income & expenses on a monthly basis
• Manages data entry and ensures accurate and timely entry of member information, revenue tracking and other records
• Processes general, Advisory Circle and council memberships
• Works with staff to plan activities and recruitment strategies for new members
• Provides direct customer service to Museum members, likely supporters and donors
• Creates and coordinates acknowledgment letters as appropriate
• Oversees member/donor records and prepares reports and mailing lists
• Maintains strict confidentiality regarding proprietary and sensitive information (ie. donor records)
• Works with Deputy Director to ensure appropriate donor recognition
• Works with the Executive Director, Deputy Director and members of the Board of Trustees and Development Committee to cultivate the Museum's members and further the development of the membership program
• Utilizes database and other software to analyze donor/member patterns
• Responsible for documentation of development department processes and database procedures
• Works with staff and outside vendors to facilitate production of emails, print pieces, premiums, decals, and other items as needed
• Ensures timely and accurate fulfillment of information and benefits
• Ensures payment of vendors related to membership/development activities
• Manages relationship with Auctionpay and is responsible for necessary data input for museum events (i.e. Art Auction, Palette to Palate, Plein Air Invitational, etc.)
• Arranges membership events and Advisory Circle activities in coordination with staff and volunteers; attends receptions and events as necessary including some weekends and evenings
• Work with the Deputy Director to implement segmented Annual Appeal mailings twice per year
• Acts as primary staff manager of Altru software system
• Schedules and assists in the training of museum's front line staff
• Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:
• Four year college degree in an appropriately related field
• Three years nonprofit experience in a membership organization
• Proficient with word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and database software (Altru a plus)
• Exemplary writing, speaking and interpersonal skills
• Accuracy, timeliness and strong organizational skills
• Ability to inspire and motivate prospective members
• Ability to analyze data
• Ability to resolve problems with grace and diplomacy
• Experience in activities requiring exemplary customer service and/or donor relations
• High energy, positive, "can-do" attitude, takes initiative and can work independently, flexible, team-oriented, detail-oriented
Salary: $32,000 - $36,000 plus a generous benefits package
