Faurschou Foundation is searching for a Director responsible for the activities in Beijing, China.
Faurschou Foundation is a new privately funded art foundation in Copenhagen and in Beijing established by Luise and Jens Faurschou – thus based solidly on 25 years of experience and networking in the international art world.
Since 1987 Luise and Jens Faurschou have been running Faurschou Galleri in Copenhagen – since 2007 with a branch in Beijing. Last year they transformed their gallery into a foundation – and they will now be running two serious exhibition spaces for international contemporary art open to the general public in Beijing as well as in Copenhagen.
Faurschou Foundation is currently in the process of planning upcoming exhibitions for the coming years, drawing up a programme in collaboration with some of the best contemporary artists, curators, museums and galleries all over the world and offering the invited artists a platform to create new works. On the basis of trust in and commitment to the artists chosen, Luise and Jens Faurschou carefully manage and expand their art collection.
The new space for Faurschou Foundation in Copenhagen is now being renovated. It is a 1500m2 warehouse in the industrial harbour, and the opening show will feature Cai Guo-Qiang. The opening date is 6th September.
The space in Beijing is already active in the form of the new foundation, and is currently hosting a show with Chen Zhen. Faurschou Foundation Beijing is a wonderful 1000m2 space in the 798 Art District – next to Ullens Centre for Contemporary Art and Pace Gallery.
The art scene in China is booming at present – Beijing is receiving international attention in the art world, and there is a lot of energy and a sense of historical impact amongst the artists and art professionals working there. In many ways the art scene in Beijing reflects a time of global change in art-world structures. The 798 Art District has become the third most visited tourist attraction in Beijing.
