Gallery Registrar / Art Preparator Position:
Fine Art Photography gallery seeks full-time Registrar / Art Preparator / Installer:
Responsibilities:
* Oversees all administrative aspects of inventory control,
included but not limited to cataloguing incoming/outgoing
inventory, generating condition reports, data entry (ArtSystems
software), coordinating outgoing and incoming consignments, and
domestic as well as international shipping arrangements through FedEx.
* Image capture and management for the gallery database.
* Packing framed or unframed artwork for shipment which may
include the construction of crates and boxes.
* Coordinating and procuring supplies and services from outside
vendors.
* Exhibition preparation and installation included, but not
limited to, matting, fitting, framing, positioning, lighting, and
hanging (including large, oversized framed work)
* Assisting staff members with client presentations.
* Minor maintenance of the gallery building (including paintings
and small repairs)
Requirements:
* Must be familiar with the Fine Art edition structures,
handling of Fine Art photographs, and the use of archival materials
* Must be familiar with gallery installation methods and hanging
tools/equipment
* Must be familiar with basic framing methods
* PC and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, & Outlook)
proficient
* Adobe Photoshop Proficient (scanning, cropping, and resizing
of images)
* Min. 50 wpm
* Extremely detail oriented
* Very Strong administrative skills
* Very strong written and verbal communication skills required
* Very Strong organizational skills required
* Accuracy with numbers, measuring, fractions, and math skills
required
* Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
* Ability and willingness to work equally well with a team, and
on an individual basis
* Ability to take direction from other staff members
* Ability to work independently, multi-task efficiently,
prioritize, and stay on task with multiple projects at hand in a
fast paced environment.
Ideal candidate would have prior museum or gallery experience of 2 to 5
years. Knowledge of the History of Photography and Contemporary
Photography is strongly preferred.
Salary is commensurate with experience.
