Job Title: Lecturer
Organization: Visual Arts
Department Description: Department of Visual Arts
Duties:
• Teaching and guiding students across all years of study within the Fine Arts Division, including postgraduate students;
• participating in the administration of the Department and in various departmental and Faculty initiatives;
• responsibility for the administration of equipment and supplies in the Fine Arts division.
Requirements:
• Master’s degree in Visual Arts/Fine Arts or an equivalent qualification;
• active involvement as an art practitioner in the field of Fine Arts;
• proven skills in teaching, research and community interaction;
• the ability to promote innovation, creativity and critical thinking amongst undergraduate as well as postgraduate students;
• teaching experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels within the Higher Education sector.
Recommendations:
• Expertise in Sculpture (including practical/workshop techniques), and general competency in other Fine Arts disciplines;
• the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in developing and co-ordinating academic, research-based and community-orientated programmes;
• sound administrative skills.
Commencement of duties: 1 July 2012 or as soon as possible thereafter
