E-COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR
Los Angeles County Arts Commission
The Los Angeles County Arts Commission seeks a full-time E-Communications Coordinator to support the marketing and public relations of the Arts Commission as a whole, as well as all Commission programs including Arts Education, Civic Art, Grants & Professional Development and Productions (encompassing Ford Theatres, Holiday Celebration and Free Concerts). Electronic communications have assumed a significantly larger role in the past two years with the Arts Commission's entry into the new media universe. The Arts Commission is now active on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Flickr and continues to hone its Web sites and other e-communications tools as an integral part of its communications strategies.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working as part of the Arts Commission's communications team, reporting to the Director of Communications and working in tandem with designated staff from each Arts Commission programmatic division, the E-Communications Coordinator implements the communications strategies of the Arts Commission in the new media area. Duties include:
-Coordinating the social media/email blast editorial schedule and participating in the creation and implementation of same – i.e. what will be talked about when; what content assets are needed for which online platforms.
-Liaising with Ford Theatres winter and summer partners and Holiday Celebration artists to maximize their use of new media.
-Preparing approved content for Web site, email blasts and social media sites.
-Updating and maintaining Web and social media sites, including preparing and uploading photo, audio and video content.
-Replying to posts and tweets by constituents.
-Collecting user data for Web sites, email blasts and social media and preparing quarterly reports.
-Archiving Web site content.
-Troubleshooting simple Web site problems, such as broken links.
-Keeping abreast of current new media trends and proactively researching future new media possibilities and assets for consideration.
COMPENSATION:
$32,000 annually, plus benefits (health and dental). This is a one-year, full-time contract position.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-Communications experience supporting public relations and marketing functions
-Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
-Good organizational skills and attention to detail
-Understanding of social media techniques and platforms
-Experience working within content management system (CMS) for Web site maintenance
-Proficiency using Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, Publisher and Powerpoint
-Experience editing text for presentation online as well as cropping/resizing/compressing images and editing audio and video material for Web use
