IN THE NEWS
The Ford Foundation announces ArtPlace, a public-private collaboration designed to drive revitalization in cities and towns by putting the arts at the center of economic development. ArtPlace announced grants totaling $11.5M to 34 projects across the country to help towns and cities thrive by integrating artists and arts organizations into key local efforts in transportation, housing, community development, and job creation.
Support for ArtPlace was provided by the Ford, Irvine, Knight, Kresge, McKnight, Mellon, Rasmuson, Robina, and Rockefeller, and Bloomberg. The initiative is backed by a $12M loan fund established with six financial institutions and managed by the Nonprofit Finance Fund. Federal partners include the National Endowment for the Arts and the Departments of Housing and Urban Development, Health and Human Services, Agriculture, and Transportation, as well as officials from the White House Office of Management and Budget and the Domestic Policy Council.

RECOMMENDATIONS
“Non-profits are taking a back-to-basics approach, focusing on reaching out to loyal and wealthy donors, as they seek to overcome continued challenges from the sputtering economy..." (Chronicle of Philanthropy, Online Edition, July 2011). It goes without saying that individual donors pay a key role in sustainability for non-profit organizations and institutions. It is my pleasure to recommend my colleague, William Moreno, a highly experienced executive director and development expert to serve as your consultant in developing mutually beneficial relationships with individual donors and foundations. You can contact Mr. Moreno at w@wmorenoconsult.com or 213.804.5901.
