Reporting to the Board of Directors, the President and Chief Executive Officer oversees an annual budget of approximately $2.5 million and a total staff of 30. The President and Chief Executive Officer will be a compelling, credible leader who believes in and is able to articulate how the arts can transform the lives of children, teens and adults. He/She will have some working knowledge, or a willingness to educate themselves, regarding current research in the field of arts education, as this individual must be able speak authoritatively regarding the correlation between incorporating the arts into core curriculum and academic success. The ideal candidate will have at least 8 to 10 years of relevant senior level leadership experience. Although it is preferable that candidates come with a background in youth development, it is possible that candidates may come from another sector, but demonstrate a strong passion or personal connection to working with this demographic. Demonstrated successful experience and comfort with fundraising is essential. Candidates with knowledge of the Los Angeles nonprofit community will be given strong consideration. An undergraduate degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred. Proficiency in Spanish is highly desirable.
