HEIDI DUCKLER DANCE THEATRE (HDDT) is seeking a FULL-TIME MANAGING DIRECTOR
Position Description:
This is a full-time on-site (no-telecommuting,) exempt/salaried position.
Occasional evening/weekend hours required. Position will start immediately
after hire.
The MANAGING DIRECTOR, working closely with the Artistic Director and the
Board of Directors, is responsible for the overall management of HDDT
including financial management, development, programming, marketing, public
relations, board development and the overall daily operations of the
organization. She/he will be key in strategically planning and organizing
HDDT’s programs in Los Angeles, nationally and internationally. She/he will
provide leadership The MD will work in close partnership with
Founder/Artistic Director, Heidi Duckler, to envision new structures and
leadership for the continuation of Heidi Duckler Dance Theatre legacy.
She/he will also explore innovative means of sustainability for the
organization’s future.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide leadership representing HDDT’s mission and vision to all
stakeholders.
1. Create and implement short and long term fundraising and marketing
plans and goals in accordance with the strategic plan.
1. Cultivate and nurture relationships with current and potential
corporate and foundation sponsors, community partners, individual donors,
members and Board members.
1. Research funding opportunities, write proposals and develop
relationships with foundations and government granting agencies.
1. Develop and grow individual member base.
1. Think strategically about connections, money and community resources
to reach set goals.
1. Engage the Board of Directors and the coordinate board and committee
meetings.
1. Plan, forecast, monitor and report on annual and project-based
budgets.
1. Oversee the design of all marketing and public relations materials
including press releases, press, corporate sponsorship packets, annual
appeal and invitations.
1. Coordinate planning and logistics events and all aspects of artistic
production.
1. Recruit, train and manage staff, interns and volunteers while
maintaining a results-oriented, team-minded culture.
Candidate Requirements:
* Minimum BA/BS university degree and two years working in nonprofit
administration/leadership
* Strong budgeting and financial management skills
* Exceptional communication skills
* Demonstrated experience in and capacity to lead, manage, motivate,
inspire, train and collaborate with staff and volunteers
* Self-motivated with the ability to oversee multiple projects
simultaneously and work in fast-paced work environment
* General office administration and computer skills; including but not
limited to proficiency in MS Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
Strong preference for candidates with the following additional experience:
* Previous arts management / leadership experience dealing with board
relations, civic engagement/outreach and volunteer recruitment/management
* Marketing and/or fundraising experience
* Experience building long term relationships with stakeholders such as
board and community partners
* Familiarity with the Los Angeles arts community or other regional arts
communities
* Have experience organizing and working with people of diverse cultures and
a passion to bring communities together
