Job Description for Los Angeles Theatre Center Development
Director/SpecialEvents Director
As Development Director for the LatinoTheater Company, operators of the
Los Angeles Theatre Center, primaryresponsibilities include the
following:
DEVELOPMENT DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Understand the history, programs, and structure of Los Angeles
Theatre Center and Latino Theater Company
* Develop and update an annual fund development plan in
collaboration with the Latino Theater Company President and Board of
Directors
* Generate proposals and supporting documents for grant funding
* Generate revenues for organizational programs and services
through timely submission of well-researched, well-written and
well-documented fundraising proposals
* Write reports to government, foundations and other donors
* Research and identify government, foundations, corporations and
private funding grant opportunities
* Maintain an updated database of all current and prospective
funding agencies, organizations, and individuals
* Serve as a liaison between the Latino Theater Company to all
funding agencies or organizations by scheduling informational
meetings, tours of the theater, invitations to theater events, etc.
* Engage with program officers at organizations to solicit
invitations to submit proposals
* Work with the Latino Theater Company staff from other
departments to gather program information necessary to report to
donors on current grant programs and identify funding opportunities for
new program areas
* Work with management to gather financial information necessary
to report to donors on current grant programs
* Maintain and implement funding calendar activities
* Provide donors with regular written updates
* Contribute reports on grant development statistics for
organizational written materials such as annual reports, updates for the
board of directors, newsletters, brochures, etc.
* Assist with other special projects as needed
SPECIAL EVENT DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Coordinate all aspects for the Annual Gala Benefit
* Secure special event vendors including caterer, event
designers, musicians
* Facilitate Gala Committee Meetings with Latino Theater Company
Board Members
* Contact potential sponsors and maintain communication before
and after the event
* Keep accurate records of event sponsorships
* Ensure the execution of special event sponsorship benefits and
manage guest lists for the events
* Work with the committee to generate the printed materials,
create the event program, secure honorees, and secure sponsors for
the Gala Benefit
* Recruit and manage volunteers for events
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND QUALIFICATIONS:
* Strong communication skills (written and verbal), Ability to
write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals,
Strong editing skills
* Attention to detail
* Ability to meet deadlines
* Knowledge of fundraising techniques and strategies
* Knowledge of event planning and volunteer management
* Familiarity with research techniques
* Strong contributor in team environments and productive working
independently
* Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and
Excel)
* Desire and passion for non-profit grant writing and fundraising
* Experience in deadline-driven environments
* Handle multiple assignments simultaneously
* Ability to monitor and meet income goals
The Development Director will report directly to the Latino Theater
Company President/Artistic Director. This individual must also report
to the Latino Theater Company Board of Directors and General Manager.
Salary: $35,000
