Faculty Position: Assistant/Associate in Digital Arts & Sciences with a
specialization in an area(s) related to Visualization

The University of Florida (UF) Digital Worlds Institute, in collaboration
with the UF Colleges of Fine Arts, Engineering and Journalism &
Communications, seeks a new visionary faculty member with expertise in 3D
modeling/animation, interactive media and interaction design. Candidates
from a wide range of disciplinary backgrounds related to the emerging fields
of 3D Interactive Media / Digital Arts & Sciences are urged to apply. An
ideal candidate would have demonstrated expertise in at least two (or more)
of the following areas: 2D and 3D computer modeling and animation; design
and implementation of interactive digital media; scientific and/or medical
visualization; digital visual effects; industry-standard modeling and
animation software; open-source software and visualization tools; motion
capture and related technologies; digital media arts and sciences and
related technologies, with identified interests in new and emerging media
research and production to support said research. An ideal starting date for
this position would be May 1, 2010, but certainly no later than August 1,
2010.

Rank and Salary: Assistant or Associate in Digital Arts And Sciences (DAS)
twelve-month salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications: A minimum of five years of professional experience in a
professional production environment encompassing areas related to
Interactive Media / Digital Arts & Sciences. The successful candidate will
have a distinguished record of professional project development appropriate
to be appointed at the assistant or associate level. Graduate Degree (or
Bachelor¹s degree with significant industry experience) preferred.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will provide leadership in
growing our interdisciplinary academic, research and production programs in
areas related to visualization and interaction design. He/she will become an
integral member of an innovative team of transdisciplinary DAS faculty at
the UF Digital Worlds Institute. The DAS faculty form the core of a dynamic
academic and research consortium between UF¹s Colleges of Fine Arts,
Engineering and Journalism & Communications, centered at the Institute. DAS
faculty members teach courses, supervise graduate and undergraduate student
work and engage in and support interdisciplinary research.
