VERGE emerging art fair is proud to announce, in addition to its planned booth exhibitors, the inclusion of a select number of Open Plan spaces for its inaugural Basel, Switzerland fair, June 15-20, coinciding with Art Basel, Switzerland.

Open Plan spaces provide exhibitors an equal amount of exhibition space without the construction of wall systems, ideal for a free-flow exhibition of sculptural or other free-standing artworks. Open Plan exhibitors may choose the customized installation of presentation panels on an a la carte basis where needed. At a total of $3,500, these spaces provide exhibitors an opportunity to participate at a lower cost, while presenting in an overall freer, more customizable exhibition environment. Booth spaces are also still available.

VERGE is THE source for emerging art during Basel week, located a short drive up the Rhine at Das Schiff, the after-party location of Design Miami Basel, and the famous annual Basel art week Le Baron party. VERGE will present an exclusive number of galleries on the exposition level of Das Schiff, with special projects and programing held both throughout the ship and on the oberdeck terrace level, where visitors can enjoy cocktails from the Hauptdeck bar while taking in a spectacular view of the Rhine. Verge will transform Das Schiff’s famous disco Club Unterdeck into a video art lounge for the duration of the fair, with special video projects presented throughout. Come meet us for our inaugural effort.

SPECIAL EVENTS

Disco Club Unterdeck VERGE Video Art Lounge For the duration of the fair, VERGE will take over Das Schiff’s popular disco Club Unterdeck for use as a VERGE lounge and screening area for video art projects. Please note the lounge will close early at 5 pm on Wednesday, June 16 for a private program. Otherwise, the VERGE lounge Club Unterdeck will remain open for the duration of the fair’s public hours. A full schedule of the video art screening program will be announced with a complete list of all VERGE Basel programs prior to the show.

VERGE Water Taxi Enjoy a view of the city of Basel from the river on the way to VERGE at Das Schiff. VERGE will provide visitors a special water taxi service from the area east of the location of Art Basel at the Messeplatz on the banks of the Rhine to Das Schiff. VERGE water taxis will circulate every half-hour from a soon-to-be designated pick-up location.

Thursday Reception & Performance Showcase For the VERGE Reception on Thursday, June 17, from 6 pm to 10 pm, a special performance showcase will be presented throughout Das Schiff. Drinks will be served on the Hauptdeck bar, where guests are invited to assemble under the evening sky on the terrace. A full schedule of the performance program will be announced with a complete list of all VERGE Basel programs prior to the show.

Sunday Brunch From noon to 4pm on Sunday, June 20, join Das Schiff and VERGE for Sunday brunch at the restaurant Triebgut. One free glass of Prosecco per person. Space is limited and reservations with the restaurant Triebgut directly are required.

ABOUT DAS SCHIFF Located on the northern bank of the Rhine, Das Schiff is a three- level barge permanently docked at Westquaistrasse 19 and converted for use as an upscale cultural center, complete with the Triebgut restaurant, a full-service bar, world-class disco and exposition area. A hot spot during the annual Art Basel expo week, Das Schiff has hosted dinners for the likes of Takashi Murakami, and is the site of Paris nightclub Le Baron’s annual art party.
