Position: Director of Development Venice Arts seeks a Director of
Development to oversee and implement its development and communication
strategies. Working under the supervision of the Executive Director,
this full–time position has responsibilities in the following key
areas:
1. Donor Development
2. Annual Campaign
3. Events
4. Supervise Grants Manager in Grant–based Development
5. Marketing and Communications
6. Related Administrative Duties
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate is an individual with:
1. A proven track record in each area outlined, above, with at least
2 years experience working in a management level position in
development; existing relationships with local and national foundation,
public, and corporate funders a plus
2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, extremely
well-organized and detail-oriented
3. Experience managing development data and strategies using a
database; familiarity with Filemaker Pro a plus
4. Experience effectively supervising staff, overseeing systems
operations, and managing multiple priorities
5. An excellent understanding of nonprofit finances, including
budget development and financial report analysis
6. Knowledge of marketing and communication strategies; experience
with social media and the web a plus
7. Proficient in Adobe CS4, Microsoft Office, Quick Books and
Macintosh OS

· A genuine interest in the agency's mission and the
ability to articulate this mission to others
· Extremely personable and able to communicate positively with
a diverse range of people
· Entrepreneurial, resourceful and flexible, able to work in a
hands-on environment with limited resources
· A team player, who also works well independently
· An advanced degree or certificate in development (desired,
not required)
Salary and Benefits: This full–time, exempt position starts at
$55,000 and provides benefits after the initial, 90-day period.
