Support Ventura Artists 2010

Information For Artists:

Sylvia White Gallery is hosting an unusual Valentine's Day Gala that will include a juried art
auction. Ventura County artists may submit up to 3 pieces for consideration. Pieces
accepted in the show will be in a silent auction at the Gala. Minimum bids will start at 25%
retail value, artists will receive 50% of the final sales price. In addition, each artist juried
into the show will be entered in a lottery, winner to be picked at the event. Winners will
each receive $1000 Art Advance, to be used in any way they wish to further their

Triple Canopy: Call for Proposals (deadline February 15)

Triple Canopy is an online magazine that works collectively with writers, artists, researchers and other collaborators on projects that deal critically with culture and politics, and the ways people engage them, both online and in the world at large. We are pleased to announce our first call for proposals. In the coming months we will be commissioning ten projects spanning the five areas outlined below—original research, new-media journalism, public programming, Internet-specific artwork, and critical dialogues—to be published in the magazine and presented before live audiences in the next year. The fourth UpStage festival of cyberformance (live online performance) will be held on 101010 (10 October 2010). The call is now open for performance proposals.

The 101010 Upstage Festival aims to create a participatory space for collaboration, creation, and for the presentation of current cyberformance. The festival provides a platform (and shares the technichal expertise) to enable artists to experiment with the new medium, and to have their work seen alongside performances by internationally renowned practitioners - in a celebration of the evolution and diversity of cyberformance practices.
