Competition seeks short videos on defining democracy (deadline January 31)

Video producers around the world that are at least 18-years-old can submit a video that completes the phrase "Democracy is -•" for the chance to win an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C., New York and Hollywood in the U.S. Deadline: January 31, 2010.

Videos must be in English or have English subtitles. They can be any style: fiction or documentary, animated or live action; and must be no longer than three minutes.

Seven winners - one each from the Western Hemisphere, Europe, Middle East/North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, South & Central Asia, East Asia/Pacific and one anonymous winner - will be announced in June, 2010.

Now. This juried show will take place December 1st to 12th 2009, concurrent
with the 20th anniversary of the École Polytechnique Massacre (December
6th).
Written/textual works will be
considered for a zine to accompany the show.

Fundamental processes: Printmaking and the Artist

Dates 12/05-12/19 Deadline to submit images is November 14th.

Throughout the history of art, artists have turned to printmaking to understand better their practices in other media. Others find
printmaking sustains them over an entire career. For this exhibition,we solicit prints that reflect the artist's evolution with the printmaking process. In particular we seek works that demonstrate a high-point in the artist's pursuit of a specific technique, understanding of the relationship of subject to the printmaking process, or challenge interpretation of what a print is.

Location: Manchester Gallery (Attached to Graphaids art supply store in
Westchester, CA.

Accepted works- 2D or 3D work with any element of printmaking or a work

platform00000009 is the seventh annual live art platform event organised by Platform North East to encourage the making, presentation and exchange of innovative live art and interdisciplinary practice within the north east region of England. The event aims to support emerging live art practice as well as to provide an opportunity for work that challenges contemporary categories of art and we are seeking to select 10–12 proposals that best represent these aims. Selected artists will receive support to develop and make their work and a small fee.

The Wall Project "Create" - call for entries (deadline October 31)

The Goethe-Institut los Angeles participates in the citywide celebrations around the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.

One of the projects of the organizers is a contest whose deadline has just been extended until October 31st 2009. With two roundtrip tickets to Berlin rewarding the winning entries, this is an opportunity to tell your stories and apply your ideas not to be missed.

The Wallproject invites you to use words, photographs, videos and sounds to address the issue of barriers and boundaries in your lives.
